The primary change between both versions of the regulation is an expansion in scope. The original scope was the Electronic Information Product (EIP) list. Now, the regulation covers anything that falls under the definition of an electrical product. This aligns China RoHS 2 with the European Union’s (EU) Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive.
Despite this alignment, there remain significant differences between the two regulations. Therefore, companies cannot rely exclusively on their experience and expertise with EU RoHS to help them navigate the China RoHS 2 regulation.
