Q2 2025 Quarterly Innovation Updates

By Echo Bell

At Assent, we’re continually investing in solutions that simplify your path to supply chain sustainability and product compliance. This quarter, we’re thrilled to share some of our most significant innovations yet — all designed to give you more time back, increase supplier collaboration, and help you stay ahead of complex regulatory demands.

What’s New With Assent’s Products

Now Available: Assent’s Enhanced CBAM Solution for Scalable, Audit-Ready Compliance

The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is here. In-scope manufacturers need to collect embedded emissions data from suppliers, submit reports in an XML format, and prepare for audits.

The requirements are complex, but Assent’s enhanced CBAM solution simplifies every step of the journey by combining expert guidance with automation and a central platform built on the Assent Sustainability Network.

The solution includes a built-in carbon emissions calculator that suppliers can use to easily provide the data their customers need to comply with CBAM. It also lets manufacturers map their supplier emissions data to their products within Assent’s network, helping them minimize financial risk from the EU carbon tax and gain a competitive advantage by building a foundation for product carbon footprint tracking.

With these features, along with an AI-powered CBAM chatbot and supplier feedback capabilities, manufacturers are empowered to confidently meet their CBAM reporting requirements, improve customer relationships, and accelerate program maturity.

Experience the value of our enhanced CBAM solution:

  • Mitigate financial risk with an auditable, automated platform that includes a built-in carbon calculator and expert regulatory guidance
  • Streamline collaboration across internal teams and suppliers by reducing the administrative burden with automated data workflows
  • Make smarter decisions, faster, with centralized, traceable emissions data at your fingertips
  • Ensure confident compliance with primary emissions data collected directly from your supply chain, aligned with CBAM reporting requirements
  • Gain a competitive edge by building a scalable foundation for product sustainability and future regulations — all while strengthening supplier relationships through in-platform feedback tools and guided reporting experiences

Confidently Navigate New EU Battery Regulation Requirements With Assent’s Due Diligence Solution

The August 2025 due diligence deadline for the EU Batteries Regulation (EUBR) is fast approaching. Its requirements span responsible mineral sourcing, hazardous substance tracking, and reporting on environmental risks in the supply chain, so companies need a solution that does it all without adding friction. Assent’s newly launched EU Batteries Regulation solution helps you quickly determine if your battery components are compliant and identify risks before they disrupt your operations.

With automated supplier outreach, you can rapidly collect critical data and gain visibility into the materials used in your battery components. Compliance dashboards identify non-compliant parts instantly so you can act before issues impact your market access. Plus, built-in, proactively maintained substance lists ensure you’re always aligned with the latest EUBR requirements without the need for manual updates.

Additional Supply Chain Sustainability Software Enhancements With Big Impact

Toxics in Packaging Updates

We’ve updated our Toxics in Packaging solution to reflect the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements going into effect in August 2026. This includes the addition of grouped substances (such as PFAS) to meet compliance thresholds.

Forced Labor Risk Updates

Assent is updating our Human Trafficking and Slavery (HTS) survey to accommodate the latest changes to the list of goods produced by child labor or forced labor maintained by the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). New goods from China have been added, including electrolytic copper and metallurgical silicon, while others, like shrimp from Thailand, have been removed. This ensures your UFLPA and HTS risk screening remains accurate and up to date.

Supplier Declaration Distribution Controls

Lastly, but certainly not least: Suppliers on the Assent Sustainability Platform now have more control over how their data is shared to their customers through our network.

New options:

  • Open Declaration Distribution: Automatically share with any requesting customer
  • Controlled Declaration Distribution: Approve access on a per-customer basis

This update builds trust and increases supplier participation so you can get the data you need, faster.

We’re excited about what’s ahead on our roadmap and are constantly working to give you the tools to navigate the ever-changing regulatory landscape.
