System Status

Our entire team of support professionals, including our highly experienced network engineers, constantly monitors our network connections to the various exchanges and market centers. However, despite such vigilant monitoring, and rapid deployment of applicable contingency measures, periodic outages are inevitable. Where such outages point to circumstances we can address, we apply laser - like focus in re-creating the events leading up to an outage, diagnose what may have transpired and deploy corrective measures as soon as feasible.

However, more likely the case is an outage where one or more market centers is experiencing difficulties which in turn are impacting us.

There can be many different scenarios which may unfold during the course of a given trading day, so this page is devoted to conveying a "system status" summary so that you can be aware of which market centers and/or exchanges are experiencing temporary "abnormal" operating conditions. Within the direct access marketplace, it is not uncommon for periodic outages to occur. Telecommunication circuits or networking equipment such as servers, routers and firewalls can experience such outages, which are outside of our control in any way. As well, the exchanges and market centers can -- for various reasons -- experience abnormal operating scenarios which may affect the prevailing trading conditions at any given point in time. Additionally, pursuant to Regulation NMS, each Reg NMS compliant venue must have order routing processes in place with one another such that better priced orders are not "traded through". When one or more market centers are experiencing difficulties with their order routing protocols, they will typically declare "self help" against the market center which is not routing per normal procedures.

Whenever Assent becomes aware of such "abnormal conditions" we try on a "best efforts" basis to get the word out to the Assent LLC trading community. Such conditions can often change status rapidly, and to the best of our knowledge and ability, we will post updates on our Systems Status Page(s). Obviously, traders should always seek additional clarification from the market centers, the marketplace as a whole or other sources should there be uncertainty as to the specific status of any of the venues they're seeking to trade or post orders with.

Again, please understand that we are neither liable nor responsible whatsoever for the effects that such outages -- should they arise --- may have on actual trading conditions or the effects therein. When we are alerted to outages or abnormal operating conditions, our emphasis is on assessing the situation and determining what, if any, remedial actions would be helpful on our part to consider implementing. We make no guarantees nor implied promises that such remedial actions will in fact prove beneficial to the actual experiences presented to the Assent LLC trading community.

To summarize, we'll do our best to keep you apprised of the information we become aware of as events are unfolding.

Where the "display signs" reflect a status of green, the operating environment is thought to be reasonably "normal".

Where the "display signs" reflect a status of yellow, Assent has determined that there may be some uncertainty as to the status of the operating environment for the market center or platform, as compared to the typical, or "normal" conditions on a given trading day.

Where the "display signs" reflect a status of red, Assent has determined that there is an issue of some sort that is impacting the typical or normal status of the operating environment for the market center or platform.

However, such synopsis-providing efforts are often derived from communications that Assent may receive from unaffiliated or third parties.
